- ★ ★ ★ ★ ★Theses guys are very cool and understanding. No one likes to have anything in collections but sometimes it happens. I think if other collection agencies did what theses guys did they would see more people willing to work with other collection agencies.By Roddrick King, August 29, 2017
- ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆They picked up two charged off Capital One accounts I have had for the last two years. They have called me relentlessly from various numbers in multiple states, which honestly never encouraged me to settle the debt in a more timely manner. The only thing that got me motivated to pay these two accounts off was the finances finally being available at this time in my life and my own effort to clean up my credit. I did reach out to them to set up a settlement and payment arrangement. I was down to the final payment which, in all fairness, I missed and was late in making it. Today, a week after I missed the payment, I called to make the final payment and settle that debt entirely. I started the conversation off stating that I wished to pay the remaining balance and see this account closed. The agent I spoke with informed me my account had increased by nearly $50, and my settlement and payment arrangement were null and void because I was late on this last payment. I did ask if there was another settlement offer, but she dodged the question altogether. I was very frank with her at this point and told her I would just wait until another offer was made then, seeing as how they already tacked on more to the debt when they first picked it up than the original final balance had been with Capital One. This woman was suddenly very aggressive and argumentative, repeatedly interrupting me despite remaining calm and polite myself. She continued to argue that she can see all of my statements right there (which, by the way she somehow magically, in a matter of seconds, read over every detail of every single statement her company has ever sent me over the course of two years???) and they never added money to my account, so on and so forth despite me maintaining that I know what my original charged off debt had been with Capital One. I finally told her quite firmly that I had called with the intention of paying this debt in full today, but due to her unprofessionalism and their questionable business practices, I would just wait until another offer for settlement was made. For those of you who don't understand how their industry works: These collection agencies purchase your debt for a FRACTION of the cost from the original lender. We're talking pennies/nickels/dimes on the dollar of what you originally owed. They NEVER pay the full debt. They simply are making profit. I work in the auto sales industry and we have to work with consumer credit and the banks every single day. We are very familiar with what matters, what doesn't, and how it impacts one's credit. So, we know these companies, how they operate, and what their agenda is. While I believe we should each be accountable for our past mistakes and settle our debts, there also is a responsibility the debt collectors have to provide a professional means of settling these debts without further negative impact on a consumer's life. This company is disreputable, unprofessional, and simply put - CROOKS! I'll be looking for my next settlement offer in one of the multiple pieces of mail they send me regularly and get the $50 back that this... "unpleasant" woman thought I was just going to give away to her today.By Shantelle Hunter, November 03, 2016
